Title/Series: Working it out (A Thanksgiving Visit, part X) Author: BookGirl Prompt: Fireplace Note: This is direct continuation of yesterday's drabble, found here.
They made love and were cuddling (though Brian would never admit to either) in front of the fireplace before another word was spoken.
“Sunshine, before that enthusiastic welcome I believe I asked you a question.”
“I missed you.”
“I saw you less than 24 hours ago.”
“That does not negate the fact that I missed you.”
Brian looked dubious but soldiered on. “Okay. What about the fact that you have a show in a few weeks?”
Justin wiggled an arm out of the blankets to gesture at the easel in the corner. “I couldn't paint without my muse.”

Title: Firebug Author: wavingcat5 Prompt: Fireplace Note: Coming into bushfire season here. This is not intended to trivialise those who lost their homes and lives last summer; rather, those events keep creeping into my thoughts, however indirectly.
‘Shoe brush’ says Brian, glancing at my latest thrift store find. ‘Fire brigade-issue. That’s what the F and B stand for.’ ‘Thanks. I never would have guessed that on my own.’ We kiss. Life is sweet now, thanks to Brian Kinney. Who’d have thought?
I notice the initials on the brush aren’t stamped. They’re burnt into the wood. It’s a paradox. Fire department marks its property with fire?
I walk in later to find him fucking some guy and I’m scorched.
I’ve heard sometimes a firefighter is also a firebug.
When I come back, Brian is polishing my shoes. |

Title/Series: Surprise! (A Thanksgiving Visit, part IX) Author: BookGirl Prompt: Wrapped Gifts and Credit Cards image
Justin was able to sweet talk the desk clerk into letting him into Brian's suite without much fuss. She thought it was “soooo romantic.” Justin stashed the small wrapped gift in an empty drawer and considered going out to look for Brian. But instead he set his easel in front of the windows and watched the kids sliding down the bunny slopes. He was so focused on capturing the reflection of the setting sun on the snow, that he almost didn't hear the door open. Brian looked shocked for a moment, but quickly gathered himself and raised an eyebrow “What the hell are you doing here?” "Surprise." |

Title: The Holy Grail Author: wavingcat5 Prompt: Image of gift and credit cards Notes: 3-drabble, slightly-cracked homage to another obsession of mine ;P
Ted met Blake via online role playing games. As innocent as that sounded, Blake soon introduced Ted to other things. Bright, shiny, small things. From then on, Ted distanced himself from his old friends. ‘Joining us tonight Ted?’ asked Michael. ‘Nah. Can’t afford it.’ Michael was lost for words. A broke accountant was something of a contradiction in terms. ‘Are you okay, Ted?’ ‘I’m legendary! All these deals came up on Ebay this week. Medieval Market Village, Forestmen’s River Fortress, and the holy grail - the Yellow Castle!’ ‘You mean Lego?’ ‘Well, I knew they were missing from Blake’s collection, so -’

Notes: This is set the same day as the last one, towards the end of the work day.
Ted closed the door to his office. He stared at the spreadsheet again, crossed his fingers, and entered the last figures. He clicked ‘submit’, then refreshed the report. His phone rang before it finished.
“Ted Schmidt.”
“Teddy?”
“Oh, hi, Em.”
“Sweetie, you sound stressed.”
“I’m working on the final quarter figures.”
“Oh. That sounds like fun.”
“Oh, yeah. You wanna come over and tell Brian that revenue is down 30 percent?”
“Well, I’ll leave you to it, bye!”
“Wait! Holy shit…”
“What?”
“It’s up. Thirty percent.”
“That’s good, right?”
“Fifty million dollars worth of good.”
“Joy to the world!”
“Yeah.” |

Title: Safe Author: wavingcat5 Prompt: Joy to the world
Now I let Brian see me scared. To tell you the truth it brings out the best in him. I’ve never seen him so natural as when he’s protecting me, helping me recover, and making me believe I can.
He still clowns his way out of affection. ‘You know how much I love sex in public places’.
The last four words roll off his tongue too easily, too strategically. I think of the first six and the way he kissed me before he said them. They make me feel safe. The world is carrying me and I float on home. |

Title/Series: 'Tis the Season (A Thanksgiving Visit part VII) Author: BookGirl Prompt: 'Tis the season Note: Brian and Justin refused to work with me tonight. Brian kept going OOC and Justin was all whiny. I got this one little drabble out of them and then sent them off to bed without supper.
'Tis the season for drama, Justin thought with a sigh. He stared at Brian still staring off into the dark night. He yawned and padded quietly over to him. Justin placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Brian was like a scared animal when he was like this. One wrong move and he could go feral for days--drinking, tricking, and tripping out without coming up for air. That's not what Justin wanted with the two days he had left. Hand seemingly safe, he rested his chin on Brian's shoulder. “It's not that I don't want to.” He whispered. Brian just nodded. “I know.” |

Title: Clemency Author: vl_redreign Prompt: Tis The Season
Ted stepped into Cynthia’s office and closed the door.
“Okay, what?”
“I just…huh?”
“You look…scared.”
“I am. And you should be, too.”
“I’ll bite. Why?”
“Brian called, he’s on his way…from the airport.”
“So…oh.”
“Yeah. I’m going to warn the art department.”
“Good idea.” She grabbed her coat.
“Where are you going? “
“To purchase a stay of execution.”
Brian slammed the door to his office, tossed his coat on the sofa, then yanked the door open again to yell at…someone. He was greeted by Cynthia, holding a grande quadruple shot mocha. The cup read, ’Tis the season’.
“Thanks, Cynthia.” |
